The World
of Yu'di

Scroll to discover

Yu'di comes from Yu di Kòrsou, meaning "child of Curaçao."

For generations, people have left the island in search of new opportunities.

Not only for themselves, but also for the generations to come.

Starting over in a new place takes courage, hard work and perseverance.

Yet building a new life doesn't mean leaving your roots behind.

What lies ahead may be unknown, but the ambition to build a better future is clear.

About the Sculpture

Yu'di comes from the Papiamentu expression Yu di Kòrsou, meaning "child of Curaçao". Inspired by those who leave their homeland in search of new opportunities, Yu'di represents the journey of building a life somewhere new, often with the hope of creating a better future for generations to come.

Leaving a place does not mean leaving everything behind. Our language, traditions, memories and culture travel with us, becoming part of the lives we build and the stories we pass on.

Through Yu'di, we explore the connection between where we come from and where life takes us. Although our paths may lead us far from home, parts of our origins remain with us and continue through the generations that follow.
